The band’s membership has also swelled this year and we now have over 30 players in the main band as well as a growing training band and a small but very important learner group for complete beginners. If you want to know any more about any of these groups, then please do get in touch with us through the website.

It falls to our musical director, Niall Watson, to award the Pete Wilson Shield for the most improved main band player, and as always there were many contenders which made the selection difficult. He awarded the prestigious shield to trombone player, Jasmin Dunn saying, “Jasmin has progressed from the training band, but still comes down at 6.30 every week to support the younger members. She very rarely misses a rehearsal or engagement, having to travel from outside of Watchet which is a big commitment.” Jasmin also led her section for many engagements last year, a role at which she excelled. Well done Jasmin, an example to us all.
