Our principal cornet player, Claire Whitworth, performed the Last Post, marking a solemn moment in the ceremony. Following this, the band played a short concert, featuring both wartime and more recent tunes.
The Watchet War Memorial, a Portland stone Celtic cross featuring a dove of peace, serves as a tribute to the local soldiers who lost their lives in the World Wars.
The anniversary held particular significance for the band, as some of our younger members had helped design the memorial while students at Knights Templar School ten years ago. We were happy to be involved with the event, underscoring our commitment to our home town and wider community .

Watchet commemorated the 10th anniversary of its War Memorial with a ceremony that the band was invited to play at. Held on Harbour Road, the event was attended by local dignitaries, residents, and members of various local organizations.
